XRD Analysis
X-ray diffraction (XRD) is a versatile, non-destructive technique for material characterisation. It is used to determine phase composition (i.e. mineralogical, chemical and crystalline compounds), structure, texture, etc of powdered or solid samples.
Chemical Analysis
Chemical Analysis determines the chemistry of a sample in it's basic elemental breakdown. Techniques used include XRF, ICP, Combustion and Thermogravimetric analysis.
Petrographic Services
Optical Petrology/Petrography allows for the analysis and characterisation of minerals through visual interpretation with a petrographic microscope. A powerful tool when used in conjuction with XRD and/or XRF, samples are mounted onto thin sections or grain sections for analysis.
Microscopy and SEM
Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) analysis is a powerful tool for analysing samples of all types. Providing ultra high magnification with extremely high resolution, SEM is invaluable for gathering topographical and elemental information (when coupled with an EDX detector) on a sample.
